As of July 1st, 2021, fully vaccinated members and guests will have the option of not wearing masks while indoors at Hacker Lab, except while attending a Hacker Lab class.
California's Department of Public Health has issued guidance that masks or face coverings are not required for fully vaccinated individuals.
Following that guidance, members and guests who are not fully vaccinated must still wear an approved face covering.
By entering Hacker Lab as of July 1st without a mask, members and guests self-attest that they are fully vaccinated.
A note on guests: Guests of members could previously enter the building to attend meetings, cowork or observe while members use equipment after signing a waiver.
That was stopped early on during COVID, and will be allowed again as of July 1.
***Up to date 09/30/20
We are reopening in a similar capacity to our June reopening with these changes under state guidelines. See our full guidelines for space use below.

Safety is our #1 priority. Thank you to our community members for being part of Team Hacker Lab and for following these guidelines. Have questions? Please reach out to us at [email protected].
We are only holding one-on-ones classes in-person. All other events are held virtually until it is safe and responsible to resume them;
We are limiting Hacker Lab facility access to members-only for essential business*
We are not allowing any non-members to enter the facilities;
We will be working with members on a case-by-case basis to address any concerns regarding their membership status, or any one-on-one sessions that were scheduled for the near future. Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions or concerns;
Masks are required while in the facility in any of the facility’s open spaces. This includes the coworking and makerspace.
Do not come into the Lab unless it is essential for your business:
Only those performing essential duties that cannot be performed by telecommuting should physically come to the Lab and keep their onsite time to an absolute minimum.
Do not come into the Lab if you have a cough, fever, or feel sick in the past 14 days.
All members must maintain a safe social distance from others at all times while at the facility;
Avoid handshakes, high fives, fist bumps, cover any coughs, and keep a healthy distance between other individuals.
You must wash your hands at least every 3 hours with warm soap and water, and after any interaction with others or surfaces that others may have touched.
We're disinfecting common surfaces multiple times a day.
Please help us by wiping down any space or equipment you use when done.
Please do not bring in shared or communal food/drinks for the duration, as well as communal cups, plates, bowls, & utensils. We will be suspending coffee service as well. While we love the sharing atmosphere present, shared consumables pose too much of a risk at this time
We are actively monitoring the situation and will send updates as additional information becomes available.
If you’re a member who needs a special accommodation in equipment or training for an essential business purpose, please reach out to [email protected].
The new directives can be found below. We highly encourage everybody to read and follow these directives.
Your support during this time is essential for the long-term success of Hacker Lab. We are a small start-up, and this is going to be a very difficult storm for us to weather. We are doing everything we can to do right by our community, our employees, and to survive this unprecedented situation.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to us by emailing [email protected].
We are confident that together, as a community we will make it through this. While we feel the economic cinching, it is imperative that we all do our part to help stop the spread of this virus.
