As of March 19, 2020, at 11:59 p.m., the Sacramento County Health Officer is directing all individuals living in the county to stay at their place of residence except for essential activities. The most recent updates can be found here, however a crucial component of the directive is to cease gatherings of any size.
As a result of these new directives we doing the following:
We are cancelling all classes and meetups until at least the end of this month
We are limiting Hacker Lab facility access to members-only for “essential business”
We are not allowing any guest visitors to enter the facilities.
We will be issuing a class credit to everyone who purchased a ticket so they can take the class at a later date.
We are pausing memberships to anyone who requests.
Why we’re not locking the doors outright:
It was a difficult decision whether to remain open to members only or close down entirely. As it’s written, the County directives limit workplaces to “essential business”. Many of our members’ livelihoods depend on access to the Maker Space or their offices.
If you are a member and and come to Hacker Lab:
Do not come into the Lab unless it is essential for your business
Only those performing essential duties that cannot be performed by telecommuting should physically come to the Lab
Do not come into the Lab if you have a cough, fever, or feel sick.
All members must maintain a safe social distance from others at all times while at the facility.
Avoid handshakes, high fives, fist bumps, cover any coughs, and keep a healthy distance between other individuals.
You must wash your hands at least every 3 hours with warm soap and water, and after any interaction with others or surfaces that others may have touched.
We're disinfecting common surfaces multiple times a day.
Please help us by wiping down any space or equipment you use when done.
We are actively monitoring the situation and will send updates as additional information becomes available.
If you’re a member who needs a special accommodation in equipment or training for an essential business purpose, please reach out to [email protected]
The new directives can be found below. We highly encourage everybody to read and follow these directives.
Your support during this time is essential for the long-term success of our business. We are a small start-up, and this is going to be a very difficult storm for us to weather. We are doing everything we can to do right by our community, our employees, and to survive this unprecedented situation.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to us by replying to this email.
We are confident that together, as a community we will make it through this. It's times like this that strengthen our grit and hone our focus on what is most important. Together we will overcome this challenge and be stronger than ever.
