Hey, I’m Nile.  I’ve been frequenting the Hacker Lab for somewhere between 2 & 3 years and teaching classes ranging from IoT Development with the Intel Edison to Woodshop to Lasercutting.  I have a BS in Computer Science & Engineering from UC Davis and worked on numerous projects for the Hacker Lab & 3rd party companies alike.
 
I love electronics, tinkering, CAD design, building, coding, creating, breaking, limit-finding, long walks on the beach, candy, collaboration, & community and much more.

AS AN INTRODUCTION, WE WILL RUN THROUGH THE BASICS OF THE PHYSICAL FRDM K64F PLATFORM. THEN WE WILL COMPILE AND UPLOAD A STANDARD BLINK PROGRAM.

REMOTE WEATHER STATION POWERED BY AT&T IoT TECHNOLOGY

THIS BOOTCAMP IS DESIGNED TO BE HANDS ON. WE WILL FOCUS ON BUILDING A SMALL SAMPLE WEATHER STATION. THE STATION WILL MEASURE TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, LOCATION AND WINDFORCE. WE WILL REPORT THE RESULTS TO M2X AND DISPLAY THE DATA IN A SIMPLE WEBPAGE CONFIGURED THROUGH FLOW.

WE WILL BUILD ON THE FIRST WEEK'S ACHIEVEMENTS BY INTRODUCING THE CLOUD BASED COMPONENTS OF THE AT&T STARTER KIT INCLUDING GLOW, M2X, APIs, WEBSOCKETS. WE WILL ALSO BRIEFLY OVERVIEW THE AVAILABLE DATA SOURCES THAT A DEVELOPER CAN UTILIZE. 

WEEK 2 GOALS:

M2X & FLOW: WHAT ARE THEY? WHAT ARE THEY NOT?

WORKING WITH THE M2X API

FLOW - OVERVIEW

FLOW - PROTOTYPING SIMPLE INTERFACES

HOW TO GET M2X & FLOW PLAYING NICELY TOGETHER & WITH OTHERS

FOR THE FINAL WEEK, WE WILL BUILD A SMALL WEATHER STATION DEVICE THAT IS CAPABLE OF LOGGING TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, WIND, AND LOCATION DATA. UTILIZING THE K64F & M2X, WE WILL ACCESS THE DATA WITH FLOW AND DISPLAY THE INFORMATION ON A SIMPLE WEBPAGE.

M2X - CREATING CUSTOM FEEDS

MBED - WRITING SIMPLE INTERFACES FOR COMMON SENSORS

FLOW - PULLING INFORMATION FROM CUSTOM FEEDS

FLOW - HTML5 & GOOGLE MAPS: DISPLAYING CUSTOM INFORMATION IN A SIMPLE WEBPAGE
